Our client seeks an Archivist to join their organisation.
37.5 hour working week, with flexibility to work outside office hours if required.
Our client seeks a person with a first degree accompanied by a post graduate qualification which is accredited by the Archives and Records Association (ARA) e.g. M.Sc Archive Administration.
Undertake or overview conservation work/minor repairs to ensure preservation of material.
Determine where professional support/additional finance is required.
Advise on the collection - i.e. suitable additions or disposal.
Advise on appropriate archiving - the achievement of long term goals.
Digital preservation; systems management; maintenance and population.
Maintenance of internal systems and off-site storage; film collection and licensing.
Liaison with external researchers.
Maintain record of accession - accounting for all new collections.
Ensure the maintenance of quality standards.
Be responsible for one/two direct staff and volunteers.
As part of an educational remit they should be able to organise and undertake talks for interested groups/the public and make presentations to management with the aim of obtaining necessary additional financial support.
