An excellent opportunity for two experienced part time Receptionists to join The Centre for Academic Writing, an innovative teaching and research centre within Coventry University. The Centre for Academic Writing's mission is to enable students at Coventry University to become independent writers, and to equip academic staff in all disciplines to achieve their full potential as authors and teachers of scholarly writing.

We are looking for two highly organised and customer-focused individuals to contribute towards the efficient operation of the Centre by being the first point of contact for students, University staff and visitors to the centre and providing clerical support to the Centre staff.

You will be based on the Reception desk and reporting to the Centre Co-ordinator. You will deal with enquiries from staff, students and prospective students, visitors, and the general public, whether face-to-face, telephone or by email. You will be expected to offer advice and support as appropriate to students, including advising on, and implementing the Centre's policies and procedures.

Clerical duties will include, but not limited to: managing student tutorial appointments, room bookings, updating and maintaining databases and inventories as allocated by the Centre Co-ordinator, filing, photocopying, keeping statistics of our services, and work full time if necessary to cover holiday or sickness absence.

There is a requirement to attend Open Day events (on a rotation basis) on Saturdays promoting the services of the Centre to prospective students for which time off in lieu will be given.

We are looking to recruit to the following two 18.5 hour work patterns:

Shift Pattern 1: Monday 4.30pm - 8pm; Thursday 8.30am - 12.30pm; Friday 8.30am - 4pm; Saturday 8.30am - 1pm
Shift Pattern 2:Tuesday 4.30pm - 8pm; Wednesday 11am - 8pm (1 hr break); Thursday 12noon - 8pm (1 hr break)

You should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English and have proven IT skills in the use of Office applications including spreadsheets, diary management, and emails. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to be pro-active are essential for this post. It is essential that you have excellent customer care skills, telephone manner, and communication skills.
